Jags Rookie Allen Grows Into Bigger Role as Backfield Gets Crowded

The Jacksonville backfield looks packed this year. Three running backs are fighting for carries, and things could get messy. LeQuint Allen showed up big during last season. He played on most of the third downs and two-minute drills. That stuff matters for fantasy football fans.

Bhayshul Tuten had a finger injury that ended his season early. He also impressed coaches during training camp though. Chris Rodriguez missed most of the offseason with a foot problem. Neither of them secured the starting job yet. The coaching staff wants a rotation where everyone gets touches.

Allen handles the passing downs. He stays in when the team needs pass protection. Rodriguez comes in near the goal line. Tuten started drives but did not finish them. This setup frustrates fantasy owners who drafted Tuten high. His current draft price does not match his expected touches.

The offensive line returns all nine starters from last year. Jacksonville also drafted guard Emmanuel Pregnon in the third round. That line help could boost whoever gets carries. If Rodriguez and Tuten split work evenly, both might give you flex value. Neither would reach full potential though.

Allen looks safe in his receiving role. He logged over 60 pass-blocking reps as a rookie. That number sits close to what starter Travis Etienne managed. Allen might even take over goal-line duties. He scored from inside the five against Denver last year. Dynasty league players should stash him. Redraft owners can wait and see how this mess sorts out this summer.
