Jakobi Meyers: A Smart Swap for Both Raiders and Jaguars

Jakobi Meyers, a reliable wide receiver, has moved from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The trade involved the Jaguars giving up fourth- and sixth-round picks. This deal makes sense for both teams. Meyers wanted a trade back in August when he and the Raiders couldn't agree on a new contract. He stuck to his request in October. The 28-year-old was in the last year of a three-year, $33 million deal he signed in 2023 with Las Vegas. Before his last game with the Raiders, Meyers played against the Jaguars. With Bowers back and healthy, the Raiders have shifted their offense to use more two-tight end sets. Tucker provides speed, making Meyers less important. Meyers primarily plays in the slot, where Bowers is also strong. For the Jaguars, Meyers gives quarterback Trevor Lawrence a dependable target. The Jaguars have struggled with catching passes.
