A new series is brewing in the DC universe, and it's not your typical superhero story. DC Studios and HBO Max are cooking up a spinoff called DC Crime. This isn't your average action-packed show. Think of it more like a true-crime series, but with a superhero twist. Jimmy Olsen, Superman's pal, is stepping into the spotlight as the host. You might remember him from the recent Superman blockbuster directed by James Gunn. Skyler Gisondo will be bringing Jimmy to life again in this new project. The first season is set to focus on Gorilla Grodd, a familiar face in the DC world. Gorilla Grodd is known for his psychic powers and his battles with The Flash. This character has been around since 1959 and even made an appearance in the former DC Arrow-verse. It's interesting to see how this series will blend the classic superhero elements with a modern true-crime format. The creative minds behind this project are Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault. They're the masterminds behind Netflix's American Vandal, a true-crime satire that ran from 2017 to 2018. They're not just writing the series; they're also executive producing and running the show. James Gunn and Peter Safran, the big bosses at DC Studios, are also on board as executive producers. Galen Vaisman is overseeing the production, and Warner Bros. Television is helping bring it all together. Tony Yacenda has a background in shows like Hulu's Chad Powers and Dave at FX. Dan Perrault recently starred in the Shondaland-Netflix series The Residence. It's a mix of fresh and experienced talent working on this project. The big question is, will DC Crime capture the same vibe as American Vandal but with a superhero twist? Only time will tell.
