A big study looked at jobs and high blood pressure in older Australians. Over 12, 000 healthy people, all over 70, shared details about their careers. Researchers grouped similar jobs together, finding 10 categories for men and 13 for women.
The study found that some jobs were linked to higher chances of high blood pressure. For men, managers and tradespersons had the highest odds. But when lifestyle factors were considered, this link weakened. For women, nurses and clerks/secretaries showed the highest odds. However, the study suggests that staying healthy and active can reduce the impact of job-related stress on blood pressure.
This research shows that while certain jobs might have higher risks, a healthy lifestyle can make a big difference. It's a reminder that taking care of yourself can help offset job-related stress.
