Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign has sparked a new digital ad campaign targeting Latino voters after a comedian and Trump ally made racist comments about Puerto Ricans. This ad, set to run on popular platforms like YouTube TV and Hulu, argues that Latinos deserve better treatment than what former President Donald Trump offers. With Pennsylvania alone housing over 450, 000 Puerto Ricans and more than 300, 000 eligible voters, the ad will also appear in Puerto Rico's most popular newspaper, El Nuevo Día. The 30-second spot opens with comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's derogatory remarks from Trump's rally, then shifts to Trump mentioning "Puerto Rico. " It concludes with Harris' own words, reminding viewers of Trump's response to Hurricane Maria in 2017: "I will never forget what Donald Trump did. He abandoned the island and offered nothing more than paper towels and insults. " Harris promises to fight for Latino families and chart a new course if elected. The Trump campaign has tried to distance itself from Hinchcliffe's comments, with some Republicans criticizing them. Harris, meanwhile, unveiled her economic plans for Puerto Rico during a visit to Philadelphia, including proposals to build a resilient energy grid. Her campaign video was shared by Puerto Rican celebrities like Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez, reaching a combined Instagram following of over 300 million.
