Kendrick Lamar's new album, GNX, has made a big splash by coming in at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. This isn't just about the album, though; Lamar's single, "Squabble Up, " has also debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. This is Lamar's fifth time at the top of the Hot 100 and his third time this year alone. That's more than any other artist in 2024.
It's not just "Squabble Up" that's making waves. Four other songs from GNX — "TV Off" featuring Lefty Gunplay, "Luther" with SZA, "Wacced Out Murals, " and "Hey Now" featuring Dody6 — have also entered the Hot 100's top five. This makes Lamar one of only a few artists to have so many songs in the top five at once. He joins the likes of Taylor Swift, Drake, and The Beatles. Two more songs from the album, "Reincarnated" and "Man at the Garden, " have also made it into the top 10.
But it's not all about Lamar. Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" has fallen to number six after a record-tying 19 weeks at the top. And Mariah Carey's classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has returned to the top 10, reminding us all of the holiday season.
The Hot 100 is based on a mix of streaming, radio airplay, and sales data. It's all about what people are really listening to and buying. The charts will update on December 3, so keep an eye out!
