"Imagine every sports fan's dream. Let’s dive into the realm of change in sports.
Picture this: after the fan favorites: Their favorite team, the favorite sport to watch, or the grind of the long game’s wait. Imagine having the power to transform the sports world. What would you do? Well the man with the pen and the sword wants to shake things up with some radical sports moves.
What would happen if the rules were changed up. Let’s say a new ruler was in charge of sports. What would he do? All hail. Well, hold on to your hats because this imaginary monarch is ready to shake things up with some pretty bold changes in rules.
You know the feeling when the baseball postseason stretches into the night these days. You gotta be sleeping or being on vacation to be there.
Swearing in a soccer coach to operate by a clock instead of extra time. Tell those pesky soccer teams no more extra time – and you might have less of a hate to love relationship with the game.
Ever think about the rules in sports? Some think 3 pointers add techy strategy to games, people have reported that. But the guy with the golden pen calls foul.
He says, "Let’s make it simple. You can score with free throws and field goals only".
It ain’t easy to change sports rules.
He has a beef with soccer and hockey He wants to ban offsides in those games.
Is that crazy? Probably a bit, but it might make games faster and more exciting. Imagine that, more action on the field without the back and forth of the “what was that” game move.
Ever hate how you just wanted to watch your favorite team play on TV, and it’s only on the stream. Not cool. Imagine how many wouldn’t be on TV. The great news is, the monarch promised that all big games will be on regular TV too, making it easier for fans to watch.
The games are even more interesting for coaches. The King demands that coaches stay seated during the game – unless they call a timeout. Huh, maybe that will also make a difference.
How about the rules in football?
That ball can fly a long ways. In the original paper the guys says that big hits by the defense will cause some penalties. Think about that one.
The King thinks that the “Tush Push” – an aggressive move in basketball – is just a no-no.
And what about the poor guys who never seem to get their props. The monarch wants to stir the pot a bit:
Luis Tiant, a legendary pitcher from the Red Sox, has been overlooked for way too long. The king wants him in the Hall of Fame. Wait, there's more! He believes that Shoeless Joe Jackson, Pete Rose, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Manny Ramirez deserve to be in the Hall too.
I get it, ESPN was big on their steroid views – but so many others in the sport have needed a bigger spotlight and this group blew right past it. The man really wants to make some changes. "Hey! They should all be in the Hall of Fame! "
It’s clear that the King likes the 70s. What about Josh Altuve and Carlos Beltran who were involved in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal? Just let it slide, the King declares more pardons and scalps onto his throne.
Enough about baseball. How about some high school and college sports too. The King says he would make sure all sports facilities and equipment for boys and girls are the same. Team sports in college is to have equal facilities is a great thing, no more arguments there.
He wants to make things better at all levels of sports too. The King’s got a lot of power but let me tell you, even he says that some things just can’t be fixed. Big-time college sports, for example. He thinks it’s way past repair. Yeah college sports have some ugly rules on the books.
You know what? He’s right. The score, the excitement, the impact might be changed by any new rules.
So, would this be a great day in sports? A world full of winning?
Even more importantly, does this all sound like a fairy tale? Yeah, if you want something wild, you can dream it, but unfortunately you can’t often make it happen.
A World Champion agreed that sounds kind of not fair, because the winning team can be in command of the rules. Sometimes it seems like the truth and the spider's web glistens.
There are many events and stories that are to be explored, keep your eyes open, keep your champagne on ice because the next chapters are coming. "
