Land, Lies, and Leadership: A Messy South African Story

The mess began when Trump took action against South Africa for treating a small group of white farmers unfairly. The U. S. President halted all South African aid, accusing the government of allowing violence against Afrikaners. Wim Envin, a white farmer, has lived in South Africa for decades. Africa’s land distribution issues have been sticky for decades. Trump and Elon Musk, a tech billionaire born and raised in South Africa but long left for stardom, accused the country’s current government of anti-white bias. The Expropriation Act may be tough on some South African citizens. Afrikaners, mainly composed of Dutch colonial descendants, are some of South Africa’s rural farming community. According to Elon Musk, South Africa’s land laws are poorly done. The South African government strongly denies Elon Musk’s accusations about anti-white bias. The assistant minister of health in the South African government said, " The South African issues with crime are widespread and deadly. They are not aimed at any specific group. " The Trump executive order basically cuts off hundreds of millions dollars it sends to South Africa by the American government. No one can deny that this is huge for South Africa's HIV program. Lastly,it tells South Africa that it needs to switch up its foreign policy to stop supporting the Palestinians and change ties with China, and stop being friends with terror groups like Hamas.
