The Las Vegas Raiders have decided to part ways with their head coach, Antonio Pierce. This news came out on Tuesday, leaving another coaching position open in the NFL. Pierce originally took over as the interim head coach after Josh McDaniels was removed midway through the 2023 season. Although Pierce led the team to a 5-4 record last year, highlighted by a Christmas Day win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the team's performance in the 2024 season was not as impressive. The Raiders concluded the 2024 season with a disappointing record of 4-13, suffering through a long losing streak. They managed to secure wins against the Jaguars and the Saints in the later weeks of the season, adding to their earlier victories over the Ravens and the Browns. Despite Pierce's deep ties to the Raiders, his dismissal was announced through a team statement. Owner Mark Davis personally delivered the news to Pierce at the team facility sometime within the last hour. Despite the change, General Manager Tom Telesco, who joined the team last January, will continue in his role. This move makes the Raiders one of several teams currently looking for a new head coach, joining the Jets, Saints, Bears, Patriots, and Jaguars.
