Macron Urges YouTube to Fund Local Cinema Amid Digital Shift

The goal is to get platforms to fund local productions instead of just chasing clicks.

Macron also raised concerns about artificial intelligence. He stressed that content created by AI must always be labeled clearly. Transparency is essential for trust. Without this clarity, he warned that AI could reshape how people understand truth itself. This might erode confidence in creative work, science, and democratic institutions.

Beyond technology, Macron discussed the broader consolidation of the entertainment world. The EU recently approved the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger. While Macron did not push for the deal directly, he backed commitments to invest more in European projects. Industry leaders like David Ellison attended the summit to discuss these issues. Macron wants to keep funding flowing to creators across France and Europe even as the landscape shifts.
