Sarah Baird, a professor from the George Washington University, advises donors to support existing institutions and a broad scope of interventions. She stresses that merely focusing on traditional health metrics won’t suffice; addressing mental health, gender-based violence, and economic benefits for healthy workers are crucial. Melinda French Gates’ initial $1 billion commitment in May included $200 million for U. S. organizations and personal grants to 12 individuals.
