Late December will see the return of the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. This mission was paused earlier this year due to harsh weather conditions. The search will not be continuous but will happen in spurts. The focus will be on a specific area where experts believe the plane is most likely to be found.
A special company called Ocean Infinity will handle this search. They use advanced robots to explore the ocean floor. The agreement between Malaysia and Ocean Infinity is clear: payment of $70 million will only happen if they find the plane. This Boeing 777 is thought to have crashed in the southern part of the Indian Ocean.
This is not the first time they are looking for MH370. Previous attempts have not been successful. The plane vanished shortly after taking off from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014. It had 239 people on board, including passengers and crew.
The search area is vast, covering about 15, 000 square kilometers of the Indian Ocean. This is a huge area to cover, and the conditions are tough. But the hope is that with new technology and a focused approach, they might finally find the missing plane.
It's important to remember that this is not just about finding a plane. It's about giving answers to the families of those who were on board. It's about closing a chapter that has been open for too long. The search is challenging, but the determination to find MH370 remains strong.
