Southern California is in for another round of strong winds, and it's a big deal. Around Los Angeles, it's been a while since we've had good rain, and there are still fires burning that have taken lives and destroyed homes. Weather experts have given us a heads-up to expect wind speeds that could cause serious damage in Los Angeles and Ventura counties starting Monday afternoon and continuing into Tuesday. What's happening here? Well, Santa Ana winds are going to blow in, bringing super dry air from Nevada and Utah. These winds speed up as they come down the mountains and into the valleys and canyons. It's like they take a deep breath and then rush through, that's how strong they get. These winds can make things really tough for firefighters. In the last couple of weeks, we've had several of these wind events. The first strong winds started the Palisades and Eaton fires on Jan. 7. Since then, it's been hard for firefighters to stop the fires, and new fires have started because all the plants are so dry.
