A year and a half after the death of Cash App founder Bob Lee, a tech consultant named Nima Momeni is going on trial. Lee was found severely injured on a San Francisco street, and sadly, he passed away at the hospital. He was well-known in the tech community for his brilliance and generosity.
Momeni, who lives in Emeryville, is accused of planning the attack. Prosecutors claim that a dispute over Momeni's younger sister, Khazar, led to the stabbing. They say Momeni took a knife from his sister's condo, drove Lee to a secluded area, and stabbed him three times before fleeing.
Defense lawyers have a different story. They argue that Lee, under the influence of drugs, attacked Momeni. The knife found at the scene had both men's DNA. However, the defense wants to know why the handle wasn't tested for fingerprints, especially Lee's.
Momeni's mother has been a constant presence at court hearings. The trial could last until mid-December, and the outcome will have a significant impact on Momeni's life.
