Netflix adds games and shows to keep young viewers busy
USA, Canada, AustraliaThu Apr 09 2026
Kids now have another place to play online thanks to Netflix. The streaming service recently released Netflix Playground, a free app packed with games for children under eight. Right now, the app only works in the U. S. , Canada, and Australia, but it already includes well-known characters like Peppa Pig and Sesame Street friends.
Meanwhile, Netflix is also adding fresh shows and seasons for preschoolers. One new series, Young MacDonald, lets little ones sing and dance along. Another hit show, Trash Truck, just got a third season, and The Creature Cases keeps solving mysteries with new episodes. Coming up soon are My Sesame Street Friends: My Elmo on April 13 and CoComelon Lane Season 7 on April 20.
Parents can relax knowing the app has no ads and plenty of controls. They can block certain titles or set maturity limits so kids only see age-appropriate content. This move makes sense because kids’ shows are already huge on Netflix. In fact, six of the ten most-watched programs from 2023 to 2025 were aimed at young audiences.
The company seems to be building a full playground for families. Shows, games, and safety tools all live in one spot. Whether it’s learning with Elmo or solving mysteries with The Creature Cases, Netflix is betting big on keeping young viewers entertained and safe.
