On Monday evening, Hillsborough Township held its annual Board of Education reorganization meeting. Three school board members were sworn in. Allison Laning-Beder, Elaine Jackson, and Jane Staats, who were all re-elected in last November's election, stood together to take the oath of office. Despite challengers N. Jannah Hameed and Diane Braungard-Galayda, these three incumbents secured another term.
In a separate vote, Paul Marini was again chosen to serve as Board President. Most board members supported Marini, with Jane Staats and Jean Trujillo opting to abstain from the vote. This isn't the first time Marini has taken on this role, indicating a level of trust and support from his colleagues.
It's interesting to note that the board operates independently from the township government, managing educational decisions specifically for the Hillsborough community. The election results and board decisions reflect the community's choices and priorities for their students' education.
