Sinking into a cozy, private suite on your next flight. That's just what Cathay Pacific is offering with their revamped Boeing 777 business class, known as Aria Suites. After six years of work, including a pandemic pause, these suites are finally taking flight. By the end of 2027, all 30 planes will feature this new design, which includes 45 business class suites, 48 premium economy recliners, and 268 standard economy seats.
The first upgraded planes will fly shorter routes like Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo. By January 2025, they'll tackle longer routes, with London rumored to be next. As more planes get the new look, expect to see them on popular routes to Australia, New Zealand, North America, and Dubai.
Cathay is focusing on enhancing the passenger experience with these new suites. Each seat offers privacy, comfort, and space, thanks to the unique design. The suite's curved walls and sliding doors provide a sense of personal space, while the soft lighting and warm colors create a relaxing atmosphere. The seats recline into a flatbed, perfect for a good night's sleep, and there's plenty of room for personal items.
Passengers will enjoy a 24-inch widescreen TV with 4K display, noise-cancelling headphones, and a smart seat system that adjusts to your needs. Plus, finding the bathrooms is easier than ever, with real-time status updates on the in-flight entertainment screen.
Vivian Lo, the driving force behind Cathay’s updates, says the plan is to launch daily flights to popular destinations. To do this, they'll need three planes for each long-haul route.
The Aria Suites also offer a more social experience. A divider can be opened if you're traveling with someone, allowing for conversation between seats. And the cabin itself features dark wooden slats and an L-shaped kitchen galley for an upscale feel.
These little touches, along with the overall design, make the Aria Suites stand out. From the touch-sensitive panel for seat controls to the artwork at the rear of the cabin, Cathay Pacific is raising the bar for business class travel.
