In the heart of the Dolemites and Munich, something thrilling is happening! A reboot of the classic film "Cliffhanger" is currently being shot, this time with a fresh cast and director. Actress Lily James and legendary actor Pierce Brosnan are the leads, starring as a father-daughter mountain climbing team named Ray and Naomi Cooper. Interestingly, Naomi carries the weight of a past climbing accident, similar to the trauma experienced by Sylvester Stallone's character in the original 1993 film. This new "Cliffhanger" isn’t your usual climbing adventure movie. The Cooper duo finds themselves facing off against kidnappers in the treacherous mountain range. In the earlier film, climbers were forced into a high-stakes situation where they had to assist hijackers recovering lost money from a plane crash. But in this reboot, the Coopers must navigate a different set of challenges. Pierce Brosnan recently shared his excitement about the project. He mentioned how he jumped at the chance to work with director Jaume Collet-Serra again. Brosnan is no stranger to Collet-Serra, having worked with him in "The Last Rifleman. " He spoke of his immediate involvement in the project: "They got me at the last minute. I jumped on a plane three weeks ago. Now, here I am, with my pal Jaume Collet-Serra, Lily James, and Nell Tiger Free. " Initially, Sylvester Stallone was set to return for the reboot, but the final cast now features a diverse lineup of talented actors including Franz Rogowski, Shubham Saraf, Assaad Bouab, Suzy Bemba, and Bruno Gouery. Collet-Serra emphasized that he is using large format cameras to capture the majestic scenery of the Dolemites, mirroring the beautiful cinematography from the original film shot in both the Dolemites and the Colorado Rockies. The new story was penned by Ana Lily Amirpour, promising a gripping narrative that stands out in its own right.
