New Dark Matter Trailer Teases Season 2 Twists

At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the big Hall H crowd got the first look at the trailer for Dark Matter season two. The clip arrived on stage and announced that the new episodes will start on August 28. Fans cheered as the lights dimmed and the preview began.

The show follows Jason Dessen, a quantum physicist who gets snatched into a version of his life that never happened. In season one he struggles to get back to his real world while facing many alternate selves. Season two finds Jason, his wife Daniela and their son Charlie trying to live quietly in a place called World 26. Things feel calm at first, but soon strange forces push them to run again.

Jason’s fascination with the mysterious Box grows stronger, making Daniela more nervous and on edge. Their son Charlie longs for a steady routine as the family’s safety frays. Meanwhile Amanda and Ryan team up to locate a way back to their own reality. Blair is set on stopping Jason, while Leighton pursues his dream of building a perfect world.

During the panel, Joel Edgerton said the story raises a big question: can you find a world where no other version of yourself exists? He joked that the show makes you think about loss, joy and even wild ideas like taking LSD. Jennifer Connelly described Daniela’s fear of what she sees in Jason and recalled a moment when someone wakes her on a couch, shocking her into thinking it might not be Jason at all. She added that people often replay old relationships trying to fix past hurts. Alice Braga hinted at a utopian setting where climate change is gone and everyone treats each other with kindness. The returning cast includes Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, Oakes Fegley and Amanda Brugel. Alongside the premiere, an official podcast hosted by the show’s creator and a producer will release new episodes each week.
