New spots popping up in the Quad Cities: ice cream, thrift shopping, and nightlife
Aledo, Geneseo, Moline, Davenport, USAMon Jun 01 2026
Aledo has a familiar sweet treat back again—just without the grill. Bowlyou’s Ice Cream Shop reopened on Third Street after shutting down its full restaurant last fall. This time, it’s all about scoops and cones, not burgers. The shop’s social media post called it a place for summer memories, with classic flavors and family visits. For now, it’s open noon to 9 p. m. daily, but the building still has “for sale” signs up after the business change.
Over in Geneseo, a new thrift store is mixing shopping with charity. Army of the Kind Thrift Store shares profits to help children overseas with food, water, and shelter. Located on Main Street, it opens June 1 with hours from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. The store takes donations of clothes, furniture, and more, adding a practical way to support global causes.
Moline’s nightlife scene just got a boost with Sins Tavern on River Drive. This bar isn’t just about drinks—it has a patio, live music, pool tables, and even TVs for game days. The owners want it to be a downtown hangout for both casual meetups and bigger pre-event crowds. Hours stretch late, from 2 p. m. to 3 a. m. , depending on the day.
Meanwhile, Greyhound Lounge settled into a former coffee spot in Davenport, next to a popular restaurant. It’s aiming to be a relaxed spot for everyone, whether you want a cocktail or a soda. The plan includes regular live tunes and a cozy vibe in the heart of the city.
