You know how Reunion Tower in Dallas usually has a cool drone show for New Year's Eve? Well, this year, the drones are a no-go. Why, you ask? A drone provider from Coppell, Texas, called Sky Elements, decided to back out after a little mishap in Florida. A spokesperson from Reunion Tower said Sky Elements called it quits "out of an abundance of caution" following an accident.
So, what happened in Florida? Two of Sky Elements' drones had a little tiff and crashed into a crowd during a holiday show. A 7-year-old boy got hurt and needed surgery. Yikes! The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are now looking into it.
Now, don't worry, the fireworks and LED light show at Reunion Tower are still happening. Sky Elements was only in charge of the drones. They've been part of the New Year's Eve shows at Reunion Tower for the past three years, but this year is a bit different. The show starts at 11:59 p. m. , so grab your foam fingers and get ready!
