NYC Mayor Builds Team to Fix the Economy and Keep Talent in Town

The big boss in New York City just got some new helpers. Mayor Zohran Mamdani is putting together a group of business leaders to work on making the city's economy stronger.

This new team will meet with City Hall four times a year starting this autumn. Their job is to give advice on what industries are growing fast and what the city needs to bring in more jobs and keep smart people from leaving town.

Mamdani said he wants input from people who actually run companies. He talked about bringing together leaders from banking, tech, and health science fields. His goal is to make NYC the top spot for starting a business and building a career.

Deputy Mayor Julie Su is also part of this push. She said the plan focuses on areas where New York already wins. The aim is to give local workers good reasons to stay and build their lives in the city instead of moving elsewhere.

The council will look at things like roads, bridges, and other basic systems businesses need. They'll also check out rules that affect how companies operate. This way, City Hall can make smarter choices about where to spend money and what changes might help workers and bosses alike.
