Online Gambling Personality Misses Court Date, Gets Arrested
David Oancea, known online as Vegas Dave, builds his reputation by posting videos about sports betting. He often shows off luxury items like designer handbags and talks about his big wins. His social media accounts have attracted millions of followers who watch his bold predictions.
In 2024 a company called Cabo Platinum took him to court. They said he blocked guests from entering their luxury rentals and messed up existing bookings. After hearing the evidence a judge ruled that he must pay about thirty million dollars and stop interfering with any future rentals. He did not pay the amount.
Because he ignored the payment order the court issued a contempt notice. A judge later held a multi‑day hearing to see if he had the assets he was supposed to surrender. During the hearing he claimed he no longer owned the listed properties, cryptocurrency, luxury watch or designer handbags. The judge found his statements not believable and called them inconsistent and evasive. She gave him a choice: hand over the items or stay in jail until he did.
He did not choose either option, so a judge issued a no‑bail arrest warrant. His lawyers said they did not know where he was. Later an appeal was filed with the Nevada Supreme Court to delay the surrender date. In his videos he has said he prefers to study niche games like curling and checkers instead of mainstream sports.
