Prospects Unite: Braves' Double-A Debutants

It's a new chapter for the Atlanta Braves' top prospects, who recently made the jump from High-A Rome to Double-A Columbus. The group of four prospects, including Cam Caminiti, Owen Carey, John Gil, and Eric Hartman, were given the news on Tuesday that they were moving up to the next level of play.

The possibility of being traded had been a topic of discussion in the clubhouse, but the prospects chose to focus on the positives and joke about it instead. 'We have a young and fun group, so we just kind of joked about it,' Carey said. 'We'd check Twitter just in case, but for the most part, we just joked about it and worked on the game.'

On the field, it was all business. The prospects took their game seriously and worked together to achieve their goals. They had a game to play, and the fun with deadline was reserved for any other time. Fortunately for them, the jokes stayed light-hearted, and any news they got was that they were heading to the next level of play.

While they came up as a group, each of them was notified individually. Some smiled because they knew what was coming, while others got nervous. Caminiti got nervous when he was called into his manager's office and told he was heading to Double-A. But he was relieved to find out he wasn't being traded.

The prospects are now focusing on getting better and supporting each other. Having their teammates with them makes the task easier. With six more weeks remaining in the Double-A season, they're looking to make some noise and generate more hype as a unit. The Double-A level is a major test, and if they succeed, it's a telltale sign they're the real deal.
