Puka Nacua Chooses a Steadier Path After Rough Offseason

Puka Nacua spent the offseason dealing with many headlines. He was accused of an antisemitic comment and of biting a woman. A civil lawsuit followed and he entered a rehab center in Malibu. Reports said he was drunk that night and his appearance at a Super Bowl party drew attention.

Despite the trouble, Nacua remains a top receiver for the Los Angeles Rams. Last season he caught 129 passes for 1,715 yards and scored ten touchdowns. Adding his first two years gives him over 313 catches, more than 4,000 yards and 19 scores in just 44 games. He says he wants to stay in Los Angeles and calls it his plan.

Nacua has taken responsibility for his actions and talked about wanting to grow. He told reporters he is trying to change what he can so he feels better on and off the field. Coach Sean McVay praised his openness and said the staff will keep supporting him. During training camp Nacua showed off two one‑handed catches that caught the media’s eye.

The NFL is now reviewing Nacua’s conduct, along with running back Josh Jacobs. Analyst Adam Schefter said the league could punish Nacua for the offseason incidents and possibly keep him out of the overseas game against the 49ers in Australia. The league’s investigation runs separate from any court case. Because of this, Nacua says he is leaning more toward the steady, disciplined route of Tom Brady rather than the flashy, chaotic path of Johnny Manziel.
