On Sunday, Rashida Jones stood on the stage of the Governors Awards, surrounded by her siblings. She delivered a speech written by her late father, Quincy Jones, who was set to receive an honorary Oscar before his passing two weeks prior. Quincy Jones, a legendary music producer with seven Oscar nominations and a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, had dreamt of making music that could change the world. “He imbued love into every single second of music he made. That was his real legacy, ” Rashida said, her voice filled with emotions.
The event also celebrated other industry giants. Richard Curtis, renowned for films like "Four Weddings and a Funeral, " won the Hersholt award for his charitable work. Hugh Grant humorously presented the award, reminiscing about their collaboration.
Juliet Taylor, the casting director behind films such as "The Exorcist" and "Schindler’s List, " also received an honorary Oscar for her five-decade career. She credited Woody Allen for his support and openness to creative ideas.
The Bond series producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael J. Wilson, were honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. Barbara Broccoli emphasized the award’s significance to her family, dedicating it to her father, Albert "Cubby" Broccoli.
