Rashida Jones took to Instagram to share her thoughts after the passing of her father, legendary music producer Quincy Jones, who was 91 years old. He died on a Sunday night, leaving behind a rich legacy. In her post, Rashida described her dad as a "giant, " an "icon, " and a "culture shifter. " She recalled his nocturnal lifestyle, noting that he often stayed up late to compose music the old-fashioned way with a pen and sheet music. "When I was little, I'd wake up at night to find him, " Rashida wrote. "He'd always be somewhere in the house, working on his music. He never sent me back to bed. Instead, he'd hug me and bring me into his arms while he continued to work. I felt so safe with him. " Her words highlight the deep love and connection they shared. Rashida emphasized that her father's music and work were channels for his love. "He was love, " she said. "He made everyone he met feel loved and seen. " This legacy of love is what she believes will endure. She will miss his warmth, his unconditional support, and his wise advice. Quincy Jones, the star of shows like "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation, " is one of seven children Quincy had with different partners. Her mother, actress and model Peggy Lipton, was married to Quincy from 1974 to 1990 and passed away in 2019. Throughout his 70-year career, Quincy Jones wore many hats: artist, bandleader, composer, arranger, and producer. He won a total of 28 Grammys and played a crucial role in the career of Michael Jackson, starting with the 1979 album "Off the Wall. " The Jones family released a statement after his passing: "Tonight, with heavy but grateful hearts, we share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones' passing… Although this is a tremendous loss for us, we celebrate the amazing life he led and know that there will never be another like him. " They added, "Through his music and boundless love, Quincy Jones' heart will beat on forever. "
