Listen up, folks! Pennsylvania's Senate race is getting an encore. Republican Dave McCormick and Democratic Sen. Bob Casey are neck and neck, with just 29, 000 votes apart – that's less than half a percent! Under state rules, a recount is mandatory when the margin is this tight. Secretary Al Schmidt announced that counties must start recounting by November 20th and finish by noon on the 26th. The results will stay under wraps until November 27th.
McCormick’s team calls his lead "insurmountable" and predicts the recount will be a waste of time and money. Casey, on the other hand, isn't conceding. He said, "The democratic process is big in Pennsylvania, and we'll see it through. "
Interestingly, Trump won Pennsylvania big in 2020, but McCormick isn't matching his numbers. Casey, however, is behind Vice President Kamala Harris by about 40, 000 votes. McCormick declared victory soon after the election but is now facing the reality of a recount.
Meanwhile, Republicans have already clinched the Senate majority by winning seats in West Virginia, Ohio, and Montana. In other states where Trump won, Democrats like Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin did well in their Senate races.
