Revere Local Schools are doing well financially, but there are some bumps ahead. The district's treasurer shared a five-year money plan at a recent school board meeting. Good news: they expect to have $19. 7 million saved by 2030. This is mostly because of higher property taxes and new buildings in the area. The last time voters approved extra money for schools was in 2011. Right now, they don’t need to ask for more.
But there’s a catch. The state might change tax rules, and that could hurt Revere Schools' money situation. The treasurer said they’re keeping an eye on these changes and talking to lawmakers. If the state makes big cuts, the district might need to ask voters for more money later.
The school board also heard about new ways teachers are using tests to help kids learn better. Two principals talked about how they look at test results to see what students need. They want all kids to do well, so they’re using this data to guide their teaching.
New classes are coming to middle and high school. One is about careers, where 7th and 8th graders can explore different jobs. High schoolers might get new advanced classes and even a zoology course. These changes could help students find what they’re good at and interested in.
Teachers at one school got a grant for $1, 000 to make a special room for kids with learning differences. This room will have flexible seating to help these students focus better.
The board also approved some important stuff, like the school’s money report for October. They also said yes to new rules about volunteers and donations from groups like the wrestling club and a high school theater group.
Finally, the board recognized some awesome students. Kids from different schools were praised for being leaders, working hard, and showing kindness. It’s always good to see students getting noticed for doing great things.
The next school board meeting is on December 9th. People can watch it online if they can’t be there in person.
