Robert Plant recently took the stage for a special performance at NPR's Tiny Desk concert series. This wasn't just any show; it was a small, cozy gathering where Plant and his band played a mix of old and new tunes. The setlist included a Led Zeppelin classic, some covers, and a few folk songs. Fans got to see Plant in a different light, playing with a smaller band and a more intimate feel. The band featured Suzi Dian on vocals and accordion, Matt Worley on guitar and banjo, Tony Kelsey on guitar, Barney Morse-Brown on cello, and Oli Jefferson on drums. They played five songs, including an emotional cover of Low’s "Everybody's Song" and Moby Grape’s “It's a Beautiful Day Today. ” The crowd loved it, and Plant even joked about not being able to hear himself, comparing it to Live Aid. One of the highlights was the closing song, "Gallows Pole, " which Plant originally sang with Led Zeppelin. Before playing it, he took a moment to honor Lead Belly, the blues singer who first introduced him to the song. Plant shared that Lead Belly's memory has always been a big part of his music. This Tiny Desk performance came right before Plant and his band, Saving Grace, wrapped up their US tour. They had a few more shows lined up in the UK, ending on December 23. Apart from his music, Plant has been in the news for other reasons. He was recently asked by PETA to change his name to "Robert Plant Wool" to promote plant-based wool alternatives. The idea was to raise awareness about the environmental impact of traditional wool and cashmere industries.
