In a major move against gangs, Sacramento County saw a huge operation last week. Over three days, law enforcement teamed up to tackle gang-related crime. The result? More than 140 people were arrested, and a lot of illegal stuff was taken off the streets.
This wasn't just a local effort. Over 20 different agencies joined forces. They worked together to stop violent gangs and make the area safer. The operation was called "Street Sweeper, " and it was all about gathering information and acting on it.
During the operation, deputies carried out 32 search warrants. They also stopped more than 200 vehicles and interviewed 58 people. Additionally, they checked on 50 people who were on probation or parole. One interesting thing they found was three secret drug labs.
The haul from this operation was impressive. They seized 86 guns, over $500, 000 in illegal cash, and a variety of drugs. These included meth, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, marijuana, and even stolen prescription meds.
The operation involved a lot of different agencies. This included the California Highway Patrol, the FBI, the ATF, and the U. S. Postal Inspection Service. Local police departments from Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, Roseville, and West Sacramento also helped out. Even sheriff's offices from Yuba and Placer counties joined in.
This operation shows how serious law enforcement is about tackling gang activity. It also highlights the importance of cooperation between different agencies. By working together, they can make a bigger impact and keep communities safer.
