A brand-new spot for marine lovers is about to make a splash in Sarasota. The Mote Science Education Aquarium, or Mote SEA for short, is set to open its doors on October 8. This isn't just any aquarium; it's a massive 146, 000-square-foot campus filled with creatures big and small, from manatees to penguins. It's not just about looking at fish; it's a place where science and fun come together. Getting in might be a bit tricky, though. Tickets are only available online, and you'll need to pick a specific time to visit. This is because everyone wants to check out the new spot, and the organizers want to make sure it doesn't get too crowded. Prices vary, with adults paying between $32 and $37, and kids paying between $24 and $29. The little ones aged 2 and under get in for free. If you're planning to visit more than once, you might want to consider getting a membership. It costs $100 a year for an individual, and there are options for groups of two, four, six, eight, or even ten people. Members get free tickets, depending on the type of membership they choose. But even with a membership, you'll still need to reserve your spot online. So, what makes Mote SEA so special? Well, it's not just about the animals. A big part of it is education.
