The South Carolina Public Service Commission has laid out a detailed plan to review a proposed business combination between Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy. The commission accepted the schedule on August 4, 2026, after a joint petition was filed by the two energy giants. The Office of Regulatory Staff agreed to the timeline, giving all parties a chance to participate in the proceeding.

Under the adopted schedule, anyone wanting to join the discussion must do so by September 10, 2026. The energy companies and the Office of Regulatory Staff will then share their findings by September 28 and October 28, 2026, respectively. The energy companies will have a chance to respond by November 18, 2026.

A hearing is set for December 8, 2026, and a proposed order is due by December 29, 2026. The commission expects to make a final decision by January 29, 2027.
