Beyond growth, the fish looked better too. Their skin showed more vibrant colors, especially red and yellow tones. The scientists noticed more color cells in the skin of fish that received the supplement. This matters because brighter colors make the fish more appealing to buyers.

The supplement also helped the fish digest their food better. Enzyme activity increased in the groups receiving the supplement. These enzymes break down food and help fish absorb more nutrients. At the same time, the fish showed stronger defenses against damage inside their bodies. Their antioxidant systems worked harder to protect cells from harm.

Perhaps most importantly, the fish immune systems got a boost. Several markers of immune function increased significantly. This means the fish could potentially fight infections better. The medium dose group showed the best overall results across all measurements. Scientists concluded that this amount appears to be the sweet spot for the supplement in fish feed.
