Scooter Crash Shuts Down Bakery After Teen Crowd Gathers

A popular bakery in north Baltimore will stay closed for days after a wild accident. Two girls on a rental scooter slammed right through the front glass of Cinnaholic at the Rotunda. The shop announced it won't reopen until August 31 while crews fix the damage. Surveillance footage shows the exact moment the scooter hit the door and shattered it.

The crash happened during a big crowd of teenagers who showed up at the plaza on Monday afternoon. Police got called to the scene around the same time. Officers ended up taking three young people into custody. All of them were later released to their parents or guardians. One 16-year-old was also picked up, though the timing isn't clear.

Video from a bystander shows police breaking up a physical fight between two girls. Turns out they're actually family members with some ongoing beef. Both got referrals and went home with their folks. Police say the girls involved in the scooter crash had already left before officers even arrived.

Authorities insist the storefront smash wasn't vandalism. A spokesperson said the girls simply lost control of the Lime scooter by accident. As for the large gathering, police say they got no heads-up beforehand. They also pushed back on calling it a "teen takeover." The department says when they do get advance notice, they can plan better for public safety.

The property management company didn't respond to requests for comment. Meanwhile the bakery staff waits for repairs to finish so they can open their doors again.
