It's been a year since the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime hit Netflix, and creator Bryan Lee O’Malley shared some news on Twitter that many fans were dreading. The series won't be coming back for a second season. O’Malley thanked fans for their support and praised the global cast and crew for their hard work. The anime, which was more of a sequel and less a remake of the original graphic novel and live-action film, made waves by changing up major story beats. Instead of Scott fighting Ramona’s exes, Ramona confronts them for closure. This fresh take had fans excited, but wrangling the main cast again, like Chris Evans and Michael Cera, would've been tough due to their rising fame. Plus, the studio behind it, Science Saru, is busy with other projects like Dan Da Dan and a new Ghost in the Shell series. O’Malley reassured fans that a physical release is in the works after Netflix's exclusivity ends and encouraged fans to create their own sequels.
