Get ready, Midwest! A weather system is sweeping in, and it's bringing snow. Meteorologists predict that the upper Midwest will see between one to three inches of snow on Thursday afternoon. The Great Lakes region is in the spotlight, with a 40% chance of snow in parts of Illinois and Indiana. This snowfall is expected to start in the afternoon and continue into the evening, especially north of Interstate 80 where up to an inch could pile up near the Wisconsin border. Later that night, more snow showers might pop up.
This weather system is known as a clipper, and it's moving from the Northern Plains into the Great Lakes. It's expected to dump heavy snow from Minnesota to northern Wisconsin. On Thursday, the day will start with a mix of rain and snow, but it should turn into all snow by the afternoon, with a high of 31 degrees. Thursday night, there's a 90% chance of more snow, with another one to two inches possible.
Friday morning might also bring some snow showers before noon. Right now, it's overcast and chilly at O’Hare International Airport, sitting at 28 degrees. Not too far away, Midway Airport is also overcast and a bit warmer at 30 degrees.
