Soccer Champs Shift Ahead as Colorado Forecast Turns Cold

Colorado Springs, USATue May 19 2026
The state’s top high‑school girls soccer games have been moved forward by two hours to dodge a wet, chilly weekend. All four matches will still be played at Switchbacks Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, the venue that has hosted the event for three years. The championships will take place on May 19 and May 20, covering Classes 2A through 5A. Weather officials predict temperatures in the mid‑50s that drop to about 40 by night, with a 100 % chance of rain or snow on May 19 and a 70 % chance on May 20. Snow showers, thunder, and even sleet are possible, so organizers moved the start times earlier to keep players safer. The new schedule is: May 19 – Class 3A (Kent Denver vs Colorado Academy) at 3 p. m. ; Class 4A (Evergreen vs Mullen) at 6 p. m.
May 20 – Class 2A (Buena Vista vs Forge Christian) at 3 p. m. ; Class 5A (Fossil Ridge vs Mountain Vista) at 6 p. m. Three defending champions—Fossil Ridge, Evergreen, and Colorado Academy—will try to keep their titles. Last year’s 5A champ Fossil Ridge won a dramatic overtime goal to advance, while Evergreen already beat Legend 4‑0 in the first round under snowy conditions. Tickets can only be bought online through Seat Geek; cash sales are not accepted on site. Fans enter via the Northeast Entrance, with seating behind the benches on the west side and overflow seats on the east. Bags are checked at entry, following Weidner Field’s policy. All games will stream live on the NFHS Network, which requires a subscription.
