Students Reach New Heights with Science Balloon

A group of students from College of the Canyons took science to new heights. They sent a balloon way up into the sky. This wasn't just any balloon. It had special tools to collect tiny living things from the stratosphere. That's a part of the sky where not many study life. The students worked together for months. They designed, built, and tested everything themselves. It was a big team effort. Students from different fields like physics, engineering, and life sciences joined forces. They want to make their tools even better. This way, they can collect more data and learn more about the stratosphere. The club behind this project is called SPES. It stands for Society of Physics and Engineering Students. They want to make science fun and accessible. They do hands-on projects and invite guest speakers. They even plan field trips to help students meet professionals in the field. SPES is open to all students. They want to spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and math. They believe in learning by doing and exploring new ideas.
