People who want to honor a loved one can place an obituary through a simple submission process. The desk collects basic contact details such as the submitter’s full name, city, state, zip code, primary phone, and an alternate number if available. A clear obituary text and a photo in JPEG or PDF are preferred, though TIF files are accepted. The team will reach out if any image issues arise. Scheduling multiple days can lower the cost, but the first run date must be set to qualify for the discount.

Before publishing, the death must be verified. The submitter provides a funeral home or cremation society phone number, or a death certificate. If the body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program, that program’s contact number is also required. Weekend verification can be slower, so early submission is advised.

Guestbook references are limited. The notice cannot link to other media guestbooks, but a funeral home website or family email may be listed. After the submission is complete, a proof is faxed or emailed for review. Any errors must be reported before the daily deadline. Once printed, the paper is not responsible for later mistakes. Online obituaries can be updated by calling the desk. Payment is due before publication. Credit cards are taken only by phone, and EFT requires routing and account numbers.

Pricing follows a clear structure. The first twelve lines cost a minimum of $162. Each extra line adds $12. Notices longer than forty lines receive a 7.5% discount per line. Running the ad on a second day gives a 20% discount on both placements. The third obituary is free. Photos cost $125 per day; two photos on two days total $500.
