Recently, there's been chatter about tech heavyweights Oracle and Microsoft teaming up to buy TikTok. The White House is involved, trying to find a way for ByteDance to keep a small part of the company, while other aspects like its algorithm, data collecting, and software updates would be managed by Oracle. This deal seems to be a way to reduce Chinese ownership. Oracle is already providing most of TikTok's backend support, so they'd be well-positioned to keep an eye on things. Microsoft, on the other hand, is involved but their role isn't clear yet. They were part of a previous bid in 2020, along with Oracle and Walmart, which some saw as a risky move. Walmart isn't part of this new deal; they backed out due to the estimated price of the app. This comes after President Trump gave TikTok and others a 75-day break from a ban. He had earlier suggested a joint venture where the US would own half of the company. It's like they’re trying to find the best way to handle the situation.
