TGL, the high-tech golf league co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is stepping up its game for Season 2. The league is set to kick off on December 28 at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens. Fans can expect a more exciting experience with several upgrades based on feedback from the first season.
The GreenZone, a key area of the course, has been renovated. It now features a larger putting surface, more hole locations, and bigger bunkers. The putting green has grown from 3, 800 to 5, 270 square feet, making it closer to the average size on the PGA Tour. The knoll at the highest point of the GreenZone has been lowered, improving the view for fans and creating more natural slopes.
Six holes have been redesigned with unique backdrops and terrain, serving as official Team Holes for all six teams. The virtual golf environments have been upgraded for a more realistic experience. Additionally, the hitting boxes have been enlarged to provide more space and better divot management.
Tiger Woods, one of the league's co-founders, is recovering from disc replacement surgery and a ruptured Achilles tendon. While his return to the game is uncertain, fans hope to see him play for his team, the Jupiter Links Golf Club, sometime during the season.
The TGL Season 2 schedule includes 15 regular-season matches, followed by playoffs featuring the top four teams. The best-of-three Finals will take place on March 23 and 24. Matches will be broadcast on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and the ESPN App.
The first season of TGL saw a successful run, with television ratings exceeding ESPN's expectations. The league aims to build on this success with Season 2, promising more drama, intrigue, and dynamic moments for fans.
