College football is back, and the spotlight is on the quarterbacks. With the season just around the corner, it's time to look at the top signal-callers who will be leading their teams in 2025. These players have shown promise, potential, and in some cases, already proven themselves as elite talents.
One player to keep an eye on is Hoover. Last year, he had a strong season with 27 touchdowns and nearly 4, 000 passing yards. However, his ball control was a concern, as he lost six fumbles. If he can improve in this area, TCU has a shot at competing in the Big 12.
Leavitt, who played for the Sun Devils, is another quarterback on the rise. As a redshirt freshman, he threw 24 touchdowns and had only six interceptions. His ability to take care of the ball is a huge plus, but if Arizona State wants to make a run at the College Football Playoff, he'll need to increase his touchdown numbers.
Lagway is a bit of a wildcard. He didn't have a standout season last year, but his physical tools are impressive. If he can put it all together, he could be a force in the SEC.
Carson Beck is transferring to Miami and joining the ACC. Last season, he threw for nearly 3, 500 yards and 28 touchdowns. However, his 12 interceptions and three lost fumbles were a problem. If he can cut down on the turnovers, he could be one of the best in the nation.
Allar surprised everyone by returning to Penn State instead of entering the NFL Draft. Last season, he had 30 touchdowns and just nine turnovers. If he can play within himself, Penn State has a good chance at a national title.
Sellers stayed with South Carolina for the 2025 season. If he can build on his performance from last year, the Gamecocks have a shot at competing in the tough SEC.
Mateer is a big transfer into the SEC. Last season, he had an impressive 44 touchdowns, both passing and rushing. However, the SEC is a whole different beast, and it will be interesting to see how he handles the competition.
Garrett Nussmeier is another quarterback to watch. He had 29 passing touchdowns last season and was one of just six quarterbacks to throw for over 4, 000 yards. If he can lower his interception numbers, he could have a special year.
Arch is one of the most talked-about quarterbacks in college football. With Coach Steve Sarkisian by his side, he has the potential to take the No. 1 spot.
Lastly, Klubnik had an impressive season with 36 passing touchdowns and seven rushing touchdowns. If he can match or surpass those numbers, Clemson has a great shot at the College Football Playoff and the Heisman.
