Trump Admin Unveils New Science & Tech Security Plan

On August 18, the White House announced a fresh National Security Science and Technology Strategy. It links directly to the 2025 National Security Strategy and is the first stand‑alone document with this name since 1995.

The plan rests on four main ideas. The first pushes the United States to stay ahead in key battle‑field tech like submarines, space systems and artificial intelligence, while also using tech to guard borders and build projects such as the so‑called Golden Dome.

The second idea is about making critical tech systems tougher without stopping progress. It calls for staying ahead in emerging fields and keeping rivals out of vital supply chains. The third pillar urges faster research by cutting red tape, rewarding innovators and overhauling how the defense buys new tools.

The final pillar zeroes in on protecting science and tech from foreign threats, especially China. It suggests tighter checks on overseas money, companies and people that work on sensitive projects.
