Trump and Putin: Meeting Talks or Just Talk?

President-elect Donald Trump recently mentioned that he's planning a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, the Kremlin has a different story. They say they haven't received any requests for a meeting from Trump's team. This is quite puzzling, especially as the inauguration day draws near. Both leaders have been preparing for peace talks to end the long-standing war in Ukraine. Trump has even said he wants to end the war quickly, but is the Kremlin on the same page? It seems like there's a bit of a disconnect here.
Just a few days ago, Trump said Putin wants to meet and they're setting it up. But when asked about the timing, he said it's not appropriate to meet before his inauguration day. The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, also added that they haven't received any requests. He did mention that Putin is ready for dialogue, but only after Trump takes office. This isn't the first time the Kremlin has contradicted Trump's team. After Trump's election win, he claimed they spoke on the phone about peace in Europe, but the Kremlin denied it.
As Trump's inauguration nears, there's been lots of speculation about talks with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump's envoy, Keith Kellogg, has even set a goal to end the war in 100 days. But with these mixed messages, it's hard to say what's really going on.
