Trump Says His Endorsements Are the Best Ever While Slamming a News Anchor

He took to his social media site on Sunday and declared that his endorsement record is the most successful ever in politics. He singled out Kristen Welker, the host of NBC News’s Meet the Press, accusing her of spreading false claims about his track record. The president also warned that she would be reported to the FCC for “purposeful inaccuracy.”

Ballotpedia tracks his performance over several years. In his first term (2017‑2021) he made 305 endorsements. By early July of the current year he had already placed 312 primary endorsements, with about 97 percent of those candidates winning their primaries. His primary success has varied: 95 percent in 2018, 80 percent in 2019, 97 percent in 2020, 100 percent in 2021 (though only five endorsements that year), 93 percent in 2022, 67 percent in 2023, 96 percent in 2024, and 100 percent in 2025 for primaries. General election wins have been lower: 59 percent in 2018, 67 percent in 2019, 79 percent in 2020, 100 percent in 2021, 84 percent in 2022, 80 percent in 2023, 89 percent in 2024, and 43 percent in 2025. As of August 5 he had backed 313 primary candidates (96 percent success) and 39 general election contenders, whose results are not yet final, so the current success rate stands at 0 percent for that category.

Recent primary contests show a mixed picture. On August 11 his picks Rhett Marques, Jerry Carl and Gary Palmer all won Alabama congressional races, and Tom Tiffany captured the Wisconsin gubernatorial primary. In Minnesota his endorsed Mike Lindell lost to Lisa Demuth in the Republican gubernatorial race. South Carolina’s special Senate primary saw Darline Graham finish first, force a runoff, and later claim the seat. August 18 brought victories for Byron Donalds and Ashley Moody in Florida’s governor and state Senate races, and Harriet Hageman won Wyoming’s state Senate contest. In Alaska, Dan Sullivan and Nick Begich III advanced under the top‑four system. The same day, however, Florida Congressman Cory Mills was defeated by Ryan Elijah, and Catalina La… suffered a loss, underscoring that not all of his picks prevailed.
