Trump has recently announced a new plan for the Gaza Strip. He thinks it will be transformed into '' a beautiful place''.
Imagine this: more than two million Palestinians living in Gaza. According to Trump, they would be better off away from the strip.
Trump claims that the destruction in Gaza means that Palestinians should leave and settle elsewhere.
The method? Trump plans to fund the construction of new communities outside Gaza, effectively becoming permanent camps for Palestinians.
There's a big twist in here. Trump's plan of building up to six new sites for Palestinians to live, are also to be funded by american taxes. Thisincludesthe relocation of Palestinians to neighboring countries like Egypt and Jordan who aren't keen on the idea.
Chartering to a different method. Trump said he would take control of Gaza and turn it into a future real estate project.
Trump's plan suggests that Palestinians won't have the right of return to Gaza. Over there, he plans to build permanent residences for Palestinians.
Israel is happy with this plan. However, the reality is far from it.
Trump has no strategy, no way of achieving this. There has been no formal planning, no legal discussion and no talk about financing by the Pentagon or the State Department.
The reaction of human rights advocates and the UN has been sharp. There is no way for the US to remove Palestinians from their homes.
Human rights advocates have called this an act of ethnic cleansing and against international law. Ethiopically removing a group and forcing them into exile is a crime.
These plans have been rejected by Arab countries and have raised concerns about the future of Palestinians and their land.
