The world is at a crossroads with climate change. Ten years after the Paris Agreement, the gap between what's needed and what's being done is huge. Private money is key, but businesses and investors are holding back. Why? Uncertainty and instability are big reasons. Markets need clear rules, focus areas, and ways to handle risks.
But it's not just about money. The global climate push has often overlooked the people most affected: workers, consumers, and local communities. This is a big miss. Economic shifts can build a fairer society if done right. That's where the Council for Inclusive Capitalism comes in. They've teamed up with big names like BP and Reliance to create a plan that puts people first. This plan focuses on clean energy for all, good jobs with training, and support for communities.
The energy shift isn't the only game-changer. AI is also reshaping jobs. A recent meeting with the World Bank talked about learning from past mistakes to ensure no one is left behind.
National plans are crucial. Brazil's National Bank for Economic and Social Development is a great example. It's attracting private cash with smart financial tools. Other places are making progress too. Wind and solar power are growing fast in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. India is set to be the second-biggest renewable energy market after China.
Developed countries face their own hurdles. In the US, many energy projects are delayed. The UK's net-zero goals are at risk due to high energy costs. European firms are struggling to cut emissions while staying competitive.
But there's hope. Even with setbacks, energy affordability and AI are top priorities in the US. Investors are eyeing new technologies, like scalable nuclear energy, to support AI growth without high costs.
At COP30, leaders must bridge gaps between governments, banks, society, and businesses. Focusing on people is the way to turn climate targets into real progress.
