Vietnamese Americans and Their Use of Digital Health Tools

United StatesSat Aug 29 2026

Researchers surveyed 304 Vietnamese American adults. They wanted to know how these adults use digital health tools and what stops them.

About 83% said they use some kind of digital health app or site. Many used phone apps to track health (61%). A lot also talked about health with doctors online (65%). Most said they can see their medical records online (76%). Eight out of ten said they looked at those records in the last year.

Some people stay away because they worry about privacy. Nearly half of those who never use the records said security fears stop them. A quarter of all participants said they hide health details from doctors because of those worries.

The team used simple stats like t tests and chi square to compare groups. They looked at age, gender, support, and mental health to see what changes things. The results help show who might need more help using these tools.
