Vivian Tu Launches AI Money App With Human Touch
TikTok star Vivian Tu just dropped a new iOS app called Ask Dolly. She goes by Your Rich BFF online and has over ten million followers. The app gives market news and money tips using her casual style. It calls the Federal Reserve "Fed Daddy" and uses "dolly" as slang for dollars. Tu wants the app to feel like advice from a friend not a suit.
Two subscription levels exist. Nineteen dollars a month gets unlimited chats with an AI tool named Pocket Dolly. It also includes custom portfolio plans spending tips and economic updates. Fifty nine dollars a month adds three monthly talks with a real certified financial planner plus early feature access. The app never holds user cash.
Tu built this after getting flooded with messages from followers asking for personal help. She used to trade on Wall Street and knows the system. Her company made eight point two million dollars last year and runs profitably with six full timers and eight freelancers. She says Ask Dolly blends computer models AI speed and human experts for better personalization.
One test user looked fine on paper but stressed about supporting a sibling with special needs. The app adjusted the whole plan to cover that extra cost. Most money apps miss that kind of nuance. A survey of eleven thousand people by Cornerstone Advisors shows Gen Z pulls advice from pros parents friends and AI all at once. Research director Elizabeth Gujral thinks an app like this fits that habit but worries the AI only tier might give generic answers.
Money choices are emotional and a bot cannot always catch that. Tu also earns through brand deals checked by planners and affiliate fees from a marketplace section. Competitors include Caleb Hammer's DollarWise MrBeast's Step Financial robo advisors like Betterment and big bank apps. Tu's edge is her voice and the mix of tech and human help.
